Change of Academic Year

This latest news page has been retired as we are moving to a new academic year!

All content uploaded

posted Apr 18, 2011, 8:05 AM by David Molloy   [ updated Apr 18, 2011, 8:07 AM ]

All content has been made available on the site at this point.  This includes the notes, PowerPoint lecture slides and the video recordings of all 11 lectures.  There is no 12th lecture as it is a bank holiday and we have managed to cover the material in 33 hours of lectures.

Section 11&12: Hibernate

posted Apr 8, 2011, 8:29 AM by David Molloy   [ updated Apr 8, 2011, 8:30 AM ]

Both sections on Hibernate have now been added.  This means that all long-format notes have been added to the course and are final (except for minor link/grammar fixes as I go).  The only content remaining to add are the two remaining lecture Powerpoint slides (first of these will be added over the weekend) and the videos (added after the lectures take place).

Section 13: Improving your applications

posted Apr 7, 2011, 8:54 AM by David Molloy   [ updated Apr 7, 2011, 8:55 AM ]

This section has now been written and made live.  The only remaining content to go live is the Hibernate material, which I hope to put live tomorrow.

Section 10: Update and Lecture Slides

posted Apr 1, 2011, 3:53 AM by David Molloy   [ updated Apr 1, 2011, 3:54 AM ]

I made some slight changes to this section and this should be everything.  Also, the slides for the lecture on this section have also been uploaded at this point.

Section 10: Web Services

posted Mar 30, 2011, 4:24 AM by David Molloy   [ updated Mar 30, 2011, 4:25 AM ]

This section is live and should be considered final.  This year I moved away from Glassfish to just using a base Tomcat / Apache Axis installation.  This makes it a little easier to implement a web service.

Section 8: Ajax now live

posted Mar 25, 2011, 5:12 AM by David Molloy   [ updated Mar 25, 2011, 5:13 AM ]

The title says it all.  These notes have been updated and are now live.  Some preliminary content has been added to the 'Application Design' chapter but this is not complete nor live in any manner and should be used cautiously.

Databases and JDBC

posted Mar 18, 2011, 5:15 AM by David Molloy   [ updated Mar 18, 2011, 5:16 AM ]

Both of these chapters are now live and can be considered final. JDBC provides the last piece of the puzzle to enable the development of the assignment web applications.  Enjoy!

Section 5: JavaServer Pages is now updated and live.  The Powerpoint slides have also been made available.

Sections 4 (Servlets) and 9 (XML) have been completed and have been placed online.  In addition, the videos for Section 9 have been placed online.  This is the "remote" lecture which will take place on Monday 28th of February.  The video for the next lecture (21st of Feb) will be placed online in the afternoon of that day.
